Kitchen redo
This is what my kitchen use to look like!
This was suppose to be our 5 year house,
9 years later we are still here.
So I decided to take the plunge and redo my kitchen to match
the rest of my house.
the rest of my house.
I had some one come out and give me an estimate
to paint the cabinets and it was going to be over 3500. 00!
So I decided to do it myself.
I used Anne Sloan chalk paint in
Old White.
I put on 2 coats of paint,
distressed them around the edges
and added clear wax.
I then had a professional remove the panels of 3 of my doors.
And add glass.
It took me a day and a half to finish,
and only
3 quarts of paint!
I love chalk paint
I use it all the time.
But I really love the look of it on my cabinets!
I wish I would have done this a long time ago.
I finally feel like my kitchen goes with the rest of my house.
Here is a peak at my cake plate collection.
It coast me under 400.00 to do this.
I still need to get hardware, but I saved us
3000.00 to do this myself,
So I might splurge a little bit on the hardware.

Wow, what a difference. Your kitchen is just beautiful. I love the little chandelier and the glass fronted cabinets. Where did you get those adorable mugs in your new header? (adorable header btw) Patty
I've been thinking of using chalk paint for my cabinets so I'm so glad I came across your kitchen redo. It looks so great and sounds pretty easy and I'm loving the price :)

Sherrie, what a refreshing change ~ and just in time for Christmas! Love your cabinets ... and love YOU! Enjoy!
Wow! That is an amazing transformation! It is funny what a little bit of paint can do! We are going on 8 years in our "5 year house" as well so I can totally relate! And I love your cake plate collection!
I am on year 22 of my 5 year house! I think it's time to go ahead and make the changes I want! I'm glad to see someone use the chalk paint for their cabinets, I have wondered how it would look. Is it holding up well?
It looks wonderful!!
Oh Sherrie! It looks amazing! I just love it. Great job!
Your kitchen looks wonderful. I think I met you at Carter's Cottage. I came in a couple weeks ago and bought some paint and you were very helpful and gave me great pointers. I need to come back in for more paint now. Love the stuff! I'm now following your blog.
I absolutely love your kitchen re-do. I am in the midst of mine, using ASCP Old White on my cabinets. Did you use soft wax? Are there highs and lows (shiny and not so shiny spots). I'm hesitant to finish with the wax because I have pieces of furniture I've done where the finish isn't even looking. I sure hope my kitchen turns out as gorgeous as your. I've just got to go back and take another look!
